LEED for New Construction: LEED NC
The LEED for New Construction Rating System is designed to guide and distinguish high-performance commercial and institutional projects, including office buildings, high-rise residential buildings, government buildings, recreational facilities, manufacturing plants and laboratories. (http://www.usgbc.org/)
Roca Tile products contribute to the following LEED NC credit categories:
Materials and Recourses*Post-consumer recycled material is defined as waste material generated by households or by commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities in their role as end-users of the product, which can no longer be used for its intended purpose.
**Pre-consumer material is defined as materials diverted from the waste stream during the manufacturing process.
The intent of MR Credit 4.1 and 4.2 is to increase demand for building products that contain recycled content. This reduces environmental and social impacts resulting from extraction and processing of raw materials.
Roca Tile products recycled content is defined in accordance with the International Organization of Standards document, ISO 14021 - Environmental Labels and Declarations - Self-declared environmental claims (Type II environmental labeling). Meeting this LEED NC recycled content reference standard ensures that Roca Tile will contribute to LEED credits on any LEED NC project. Proper documentation for LEED letter template submittals is available upon request.
According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, we spend almost 90% of our time indoors. All Roca Tile products meet CA 01350 indoor air quality testing standards and are rated zero VOC. It is important to specify low and zero VOC products to improve indoor air quality and the health of building occupants.
